C’è una cosa che solo qualcuno della mia generazione sarà in grado di capire davvero: cosa voleva dire essere bambini nel momento in cui Pokémon fece la sua prima comparsa in Europa, e come travolse inesorabilmente le nostre vite. Oggigiorno la serie continua a rimanere il franchise più di successo in assoluto, tra videogiochi, serie animate, giochi di carte, e un carico infinito di merchandise di ogni tipo. Eppure, nonostante tutto, non sembra esserci più lo stesso fervore a riguardo. Le generazioni più giovani mi appaiono disinteressate , le volte in cui sento più parlare del gioco di carte è più collegato a speculatori che vogliono trovare carte rare da rivendere, e il clima sui videogiochi permea di rabbia e delusione costanti, in particolare da giocatori della mia età. We're all familiar with the concept of the Black Sheep: that one element that ends up sticking out in a particular group, whether in a positive or negative connotation. In the world of videogames it's an expression that's often used to describe specific titles in a long running series: whether is for an extreme deviation in gameplay like Zelda II - Adventure of Link , for a drastic change of setting and atmosphere like Doom 3 ; experimental mechanics like Tekken 4 , or simply a game that's not at the same level of quality as the rest like Phantasy Star III - Generations of Doom . The world of indie games is even more prevalent in today videogames’s landscape: digital storefronts like Steam allowed them to spread like wildfire, and sites like Humble Bundle constantly put bundles on sale at a bargain price. The best part are the events, and annual jams on sites like Itch.io, that allow young talents to emerge and show their early work. Thinking back to 15 years ago, this world was alien to me. Metroid is one of the most peculiar Nintendo series. Inspired by the Alien Franchise, the series has been going on for 40 Years, following the adventures of Samus Aran in her fight for keeping the galaxy safe by the ambition of the Space Pirates. It’s the series that inspired one of the most prolific genres of the Indie scene, and one of the first videogames to ever have a woman as the lead! And yet, it’s one of the most niche and less prolific series by Nintendo, often in a state of hibernation between generations. Metroid Prime was born in 2002 during one of these hibernation periods. After skipping the Nintendo 64 entirely, a young team called Retro Studios was given the task of bringing the series on the Nintendo Gamecube , adopting the Third Dimension for the first time. Ispirata al franchise di Alien , la serie da ormai 40 anni vede le avventure di Samus Aran nella sua lotta per mantenere al sicuro la galassia dalle ambizioni dei pirati spaziali.   Tomb Raider is in their renaissance period! Ever since Square Enix gave up the rights to the IP, Lara Croft has been fighting tooth and nail to reclaim her space in the public consciousness. We had the announcement of two games with Legacy of Atlantis , yet another remake of the first chapter from 1996, and Catalyst , an entirely new adventure which I’m very curious to learn more about. Lastly, we had the announcement of a new live action TV series led by Sophie Turner , which has already shown her look in promotional material, and she looks absolutely divine in the role. I can wait to see her in action! In the midst of all these announcements, Powerhouse Animation continued their work on the animated show Tomb Raider - Legend of Lara Croft . Tomb Raider è in un periodo di rinascita ! Da quando Square Enix ha ceduto i diritti, Lara Croft sta lottando con le unghie e coi denti per ritagliarsi il suo posto di rilevanza nel mondo attuale.
