Yakuza 6: The Song of Life avrebbe dovuto segnare l'ultima avventura per Kazuma Kiryu . 11 anni di storia culminati in un ultima avventura, che si conclude con un finale che, per quanto dolce amaro, aveva significato la libertà . Yakuza: Like a Dragon nel 2020 ha segnato un nuovo inizio per la serie, con Ichiban Kasuga come nuovo volto ufficiale, un nuovo gameplay e un cast di personaggi tutto nuovo a cui affezionarsi. Yakuza 6: The song of Life should've been the last adventure for Kazuma Kiryu . 11 years of story culminating into one last ride, which concludes with a bittersweet ending, which at least signified freedom. Yakuza: Like a Dragon in 2020 marked a new beginning for the series, with Ichiban Kasuga as the new face of the franchise, a new type of gameplay and a brand new cast of characters to get attached to. The best thing about it being that, in spite of past key players still appearing in tertiary roles, the plot is easily accessible to everyone, making it a perfect jumping off point. Unfortunately not even Yakuza is immune to the biggest hurdle of long running series: the passing of the torch ! In the years that followed, RGG studio struggled a lot in giving Ichiban the same level of presence.
